WHY USE STACKED OR 100% STACKED BAR CHARTS?

Stacked bars are great space-savers. Instead of displaying distributions of data in a histogram format (where bars are next to each other), all the bars are stacked into one column or horizontal bar as portions of a whole distinguished by color or separating lines. By comparing the length of the segments, it is easy to get an overview of the relative magnitude of different response choices or categories.
