WHY USE A LINE CHART?
Line charts can be used to show data points over time in a clean way. The benefit of line charts is that the connecting line infers a relationship between two points, which is why it works so well with time (is something increasing or decreasing or staying the same over time?). Alternatively, if you're looking at quantity of something over time, you'll be better served with other chart types that include volume, like an area chart or bar chart.
